Welcome

At Myanmar International School we think each school day is an opportunity for fun and challenge as students engage with curricular content and extracurricular activities. We recognize our students are whole individuals with their own interests, ideas and hopes, and so our mission is to encourage each student to be more who they are, helping to identify and develop their strengths.

Welcome to the website of MIS, an International School with which I am very proud to be involved.

The pandemic has caused huge disruption to all our lives, but the job of educating our young must not be disrupted. We owe it to them to create a sound learning environment and at MIS that is precisely what we are doing.

You will notice on this website that there is a ‘wellbeing’ tab, as we recognise the emotional stresses being separated from friends and normal school activities can cause: to both students and staff.

At MIS we have a dedicated team of trained Designated Safeguarding Leads whose job is to monitor, support and assist all of the individuals, teaching staff, students and support staff. As CEO, my Senior Management Team and I monitor all the latest research and endeavour to pass this onto our professional staff.

MIS is a school which cares and which recognises our moral imperative to look after our young at this very difficult time.

Thank you for your interest in our school. Please reach out to our Admissions team and we will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Our Vision, Mission and Values

As we continue to look towards our future, it is important as a school to reflect on where we began, where we are today and where we want to go.

Our Vision

At Myanmar International School, we believe that all children are special and possess unique skills and abilities. We offer an education in a positive, diverse, and secure learning environment. We support creativity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning designed to bring out the best in every child. By integrating local values with global perspective, we prepare our students to successfully meet 21st century challenges.

Our Mission

The Myanmar International School mission is to create a challenging, engaging, and motivating student-centered learning environment with instruction in English, where students are taught by a diverse multicultural staff utilizing the Cambridge International Curriculum. Together, we work in harmony to develop every student’s full potential in a positive environment, both inside and outside the classroom.
We accomplish this by:
  • Providing students with the academic, physical, and social skills that will enable them to develop as responsible and confident global citizens through collaborative relationships within the school community.
  • Offering English Language Learners a supportive, nurturing and conducive environment to improve their English communication skills.
  • Inspiring, educating, and empowering our students to be inquisitive lifelong learners.

What is the significance behind the MIS logo?

  • The colors of our crest, red, white and blue, can be found in most countries’ flags around the world. As an international school we not only welcome students from many different nations but also aim to enlighten them about the world in which they live.
  • The mortar board symbolizes the academic excellence which we hope all of our students will achieve.
  • Our students will be the stars of the future in whatever they choose to do. They will bring happiness and light into the lives of everyone they know.

Our Story

The MIS story begins in 2009 and is exponential in nature as we have grown from a handful of students learning together in one classroom to nearly XXX students and an international team of teachers working and learning across a vibrant campus.

MIS History

Myanmar International School, a leading International Cambridge School in Myanmar, was founded in 2009 by the Board of Directors of Than Lwin Aye Yar Services Co. Ltd. In founding a new school the Directors believed that students should have the most modern facilities in which to work. Consequently through the summer of 2009 a new school was built on Pyin Nya Waddy Street adjacent to the Sedona Hotel and close to Inya Lake. The school opened its doors to the first students on 1st September 2009. Through the hard work of the Directors and Staff the school rapidly acquired an excellent reputation and student numbers rose significantly. As it embarks upon its sixth year the school remains committed to providing the best quality education in Yangon.
