History and Governance

Myanmar International School, a leading International Cambridge School in Myanmar, was founded in 2009 by the Board of Directors of Than Lwin Aye Yar Services Co. Ltd. In founding a new school the Directors believed that students should have the most modern facilities in which to work. Consequently through the summer of 2009 a new school was built on Pyin Nya Waddy Street adjacent to the Sedona Hotel and close to Inya Lake. The school opened its doors to the first students on 1st September 2009. Through the hard work of the Directors and Staff the school rapidly acquired an excellent reputation and student numbers rose significantly. As it embarks upon its sixth year the school remains committed to providing the best quality education in Yangon.

It is vital to have a sound supportive board of management. At MIS, we are fortunate to have a committed Board of Directors.

Several of the members have children at MIS and as a result they are critically concerned with its success. The BOD members have a vast amount of experience in business and an understanding of the culture of our host country, Myanmar. Our board has many years of experience in international education and the expertise to lead and manage, along with the Head Principal an effective international school.
